Storage and haulage of powder product
The humidity in bulk silos, often causes problems
The storage of dry bulk products can create problems such as reduced quality of the product, loss of production, blocked ducts, plant damage and need more regular maintenance. The result is lower production and higher costs of production.
Operators of silos or pneumatic conveying systems are aware of the negative effects of excessive humidity. These are difficult to combat as humidity levels change throughout the day and during different seasons.
To minimize the effects of this plugging, are added to the equipment devices such as vibrators, hammers, etc.
However, this does not solve the problem: the product is still sticking and transmission lines blocked.
Protection all year round
Munters offers a proactive solution to control the relative humidity and the dew point of the air. (The dew point is that temperature at which the humidity begins to condense on the walls or products.)
Munters desiccant dehumidifiers control humidity in both double-walled silos in single wall, effectively. Our equipment is used to prevent condensation and other moisture related problems.
Storage silos
Hygroscopic materials such as sugar, cocoa, starch, salt, chemicals, odors, etc. are stored in silos. A high content of moisture or condensation on the walls of the silo due to fluctuations in the outside temperature, causes the growth of bacteria and the product sticks on the walls of the silo. The humidity inside the silo is absorbed by the product, causing clumping and thereby causing problems in handling. These problems cause costly production downtime.
RH 65% or higher will support the growth of bacteria. Dehumidifiers keep the air inside the silo to a safe HR, preventing the appearance of health problems and handling during storage.
Many small manufacturers and final customers use Munters systems to ensure the right conditions of moisture in the transport and storage of bulk products.
